Hello Honors Chemistry Students:
Being that not all students use the Science Scholars Facebook site , texting, nor have they joined the Science Scholars website, I have chosen to use this venue as a threaded forum for this class.
Please post questions and concerns regarding Honors Chemistry on this site, rather than texing or emailing me. I am striving for efficient and effective communication with all of you.
I apologize if I don't respond to every email and text of support. I enjoy hearing from you and look forward to my return in a few weeks.
Ms. Berman
When will the Review Games be due for A day classes? Everyone is telling me a different answer.
ReplyDeleteThe Chemistry Review Games are due Friday, January 13, for periods 1A and 2A and Monday, January 16, for period 2B. This is a 300 point assignment and should be comprehensive (meaning it should include course content from the entire semester).
ReplyDeleteThe recipe assignment was a project that I did with my students last year. We will be doing this upon my return. It is more complex than a couple of paragraphs and I will explain it to you at a later date. If you already started on it, please turn your work into the sub for extra credit. If you did not, don't worry about it. Your current homework is to complete the worksheets provided this week and to work on the Review Game.
ReplyDeleteUm the sub is going way too fast for most of us. A lot of us don't understand what's being taught because we're fratically trying to write everything down. I know I'm missing almost half the notes from the lectures we did. I'm completely lost right now, and I know a lot of others are too. Is there anything that can be done to keep this from happening?
ReplyDeleteIf this is for period 2B, ask the sub to begin class by doing a review of the previous lecture notes. If this is not sufficient, I have emailed the typed notes to all of my TA's and they may share them with you (Sonia, Jessica or Gethin). Finally, I will make a post on the FB Science Scholars Community Page, looking for a student who feels he/she has good enough notes to post for the class.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when our projects from before break were going to be put into zangle?
ReplyDeleteThe lectures for the Honors Chemistry class will be on the science scholars website. I will be
ReplyDeletekeeping the lectures up to date for everyone.
Here is the link for the lectures:
http://www.science-scholars.com/honorschemlectures.htm
Projects scores will be posted ASAP. Thanks for your patience.
ReplyDeleteWhen will the recent Honors Chem lectures be posted on the Science Scholars website?
ReplyDeleteI just emailed my note-taker and he/she will reply to your post. I did, however, email a typed copy of last year's lecture notes to the sub and all of my TA's (Jessica:1A, Gethin:2A and Sonia:2B). You are more than welcome to ask any of them to look at those notes for reference. Please post again if you have a problem with this.
DeleteI have sent the lectures to the person who puts the lectures up on the website. So I am waiting for them to be put up. But I will try to get them on by today.
DeleteThe lectures are now up on the website.
DeleteI was wondering how we could still get extra credit since science scholars has been somewhat absent and in the mornings the o ly person in the classroom is the sub. I am worried abot my final and im probably not the only one D:
ReplyDeletePlease speak with Sonia and Iman, the Science Scholars Presidents. The tutorials should be operating in full force at this time in the semester. Let me know the results asap. Thanks.
DeleteThere was extra credit that i should have gotten from earlier in the year and you never put it in? will it still count? -Jacqueline 2B
ReplyDeleteYes, please email the number of points that are due to you. MsB
DeleteRegarding Science Scholars/Extra Credit: Science Scholars should still be meeting, both in the morning and after school during the designated times. Attendance should be taken. If a student plans to attend regularly during the next few sessions, he/she may want to be responsible for emailing me the names of all in attendance. That will assure that the students will receive the points on the final. After the sub sends me the scores, I will be posting them on Zangle at the end of the semester. Any unused extra credit, such as the situation above, can be posted at that time as well. Email me the points that you are due. Give your documentation to the sub. All of the papers will be delivered to me by one of the TA's or a teacher. All borderline grades will be given the benefit of the doubt, so do not stress over a few points. In the end, it will not make a difference.
ReplyDeleteA Review Sheet for the Final Exam and
ReplyDeletea Practice Final Exam have been posted on the Science Scholars website under "handouts." The Final Exam does not include questions on the recent material, Acids and Bases or Gas Laws.
Please bring your Chemistry lecture notes to Mrs. James' in-class Chemistry tutorial. And be sure to thank Mrs. James for this opportunity and the tutors for their assistance:). Only at I.S...
ReplyDeleteHey Ms. Berman, will you be entering the grades for past Homeworks and Projects? Many of us have borderline grades and aren't quite sure the test will bring us up enough..
ReplyDeleteYes, I will. I am waiting to receive all of the grades for all of my sections. If I start entering grades now, some students will think that they have zeroes... Grades to be added include: homework, the practice final, the final, and gameboards.
DeleteDoes the increase in our grade from our CST score last year go on our first semester or second semester grades?
ReplyDeleteCST extra credit goes on the first semester, only if you turned in the scores by the October deadline. Email me to see if you are going to need it... I am going to get your finals in a couple of hours and will know then...
DeleteI forgot to give the sub my practice exam and the Charle's law and Boyle's law homeworks, will I still be able to get credit on them if I turn them in Monday?
ReplyDeleteNothing can be submitted Monday. I am posting grades today. I will be adding on extra credit participation points to account for the disjointed month of January. Don't stress about it until you see your final grade. You may want to email me to see where you are at this point...
